Young people and work today

The days when young people could spend money on their whims such as clothes, cars or holidays have finished. And this is because of the crisis. But, worse than this is that young people can't find an appropiate job, and it's because they don't have enough studies to get it. Therefore, they can't live alone and become independent citizens.

Usually, when we are watching the news on tv about the current situation in the world, it's impossible not to feel sadness. This situation is making people feel a lack of motivation. Some of them tend to do demonstrations against the country's politics, and in most cases they become anti-government peple.

Although some specialists believe that Spain doesn't need help from the EU to overcome the crisis, according to the writer there isn't any symptom that the situation could be better than last year.

By and large, nowadays we have to learn that conditions in life have changed:we will have to live with less money (because our salary has decreased ), work more hours and in worse conditions than before, if you're lucky to have a job!

A place I love

A town I love is Rome. It's situated in south-west Italy. Some people describe it as the birth of the western world because of the long history that starts in the eighth century before Christ.

People who are interested in the past can visit the numerous monuments, the hidden treasures and the spectacular architecture.

There are a lot of places that you might be delighted to see. One of the is the Sistine Chapel, in the Vatican city, painted by Miguel Angel, Rafael and Boticelli in 1471.But for me the most outstanding monument is the Coliseum, that was built in the first century, and it's quite famous around the world. There were fights between slave gladiators and other shows.

Why I love Rome? Because I went there three years ago with my colleagues and friends and was an unforgettable trip for more reasons.

On the other hand, if you are a person who love the fashion, you can go to the fashion boutiques that are close to the city center. There you can buy the latest clothes.

The local people are quite friendly, as in Spain, and the food (pasta) is delicious!

An honest politician

One politician that has influenced a lot of people in the world is probably Nelson Mandela. He was born in Mvezo, SouthAfrica, on July the 18 th and he became the first president that was chosen democratically in this country, in 1980.

His parents believed that education was very important in men's life, and because of that, he was brought-up in a well strict way.
When he was seven years old, he and his family moved to a small village where he lived for three years.

At he age of nineteen he started to study law at the university in Healdstown, and it was here when he started the first confrontation with some professors for the racial segregation.

In his political life he led some movements in favour of black people's freedom and therefore they could get the same rights as white people. Moreover, he was the symbol against the apartheid, a party that wanted to oppress black people. Unfortunately, in 1956 he was sent to prison for twenty-seven years and he was released in 1990.

Mandela has received a lot o prizes as a reward for all his fight and career, and in 1993 the jury gave him The Nobel Peace Prize.

There are a lot of people who have written about him;last year Clint Eastwood made a film based on his life.

Smokers against nonsmokers.

The last news about drugs showed that the consumption of cocaine has increased in Spain.
This drug is very harmful for the organism but there are others that are too easy to buy, (in the street , for example), like cigarettes and alcohol.

At this moment I think that people that don't smoke are discriminated so much. We just need a place where we meet ours friends and not breathe smoke. We just ask for that! And I agree with the idea of banning smoking in all public places.

And on the other hand, cigarettes are strongly bad for the health, and every year more and more often people die for smoking.

Moreover the government have earned a lot of money with cigarettes because citizens have to pay a tax for this product. Companies that produce cigarettes do to get a lot of profits too.

Maybe there are very important people that want to ban smoke in public places, but they aren't interested in banning it forever!

The way of learning a language.

The first time I heard this sentence: ''You don't need long arms to embrace the world, you need English'', I didn't understand the meaning very well. After thinking about it, I realised that the sentence had a metaphoric sense.

Nowadays English is very important in a lot of countries in the world, in different fields: society, education, science, engineering...And if you want to improve in your life, you should learn English. I think that the most important thing is that you don't have to be afraid of speaking. It doesn't matter if you make some mistakes while you are talking, because mistakes are included in the learning.

On the other hand, there are other languages that are increasing every day, like Chinese and Arabic. These two languages are more difficult to learn, because they have different alphabets, that are formed by symbols, not letters, and are less easier to decipher.

Finally, from my point of view, you have to find the best way for learning a language. You can use some tricks. For example, if you like music, you could listen to songs of your favourite singers and learn new words!

My work
when I was a child, I wanted to work as a veterinary medicine. I dreamed with a lot of animals around me. I wished that years could pass quickly to have my own ''hospital'' and cure my special patient. Now I'm thirty-two years old and I'm not veterinay, I'm teacher. I work in a primary school in Badalona, and I help children to learn some traditions, subjects and habilities. It's a difficult task because usually family belong to low social class in the society and don't have enough money. Other families are from another country and aren't legal here. They don't have work and in some cases they live of the charity. All these things damage children's education, and can't concentrate in their homework. Some of them arrive at Catalonia without knowing our language, but surprisingly, after two or three months they can speak a little. There are people that think that to be teacher is an easy job:well paid and too many holidays. But nowadays that thought isn't real, and if you don't believe me, I invite you to visit my school for a day!
